Profile Information

Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I have little personal experience with alternative energy, but I want so much to make it an integral part of my existence. I have seen wind farms and solar panels and other alternative energy sources, such as ground-source heating, and researched their respective science, but I have not used these things personally.
What excites you about this campaign?
I am ecstatic about America once again winning her independence. There is no reason for us to be so polluting and so dependent on other nations, particularly those who do not like us very much. We must move away from oil and its many negative aspects and leap into a future of cleaner, non-inflationary, more independent energy.
What do you want to do to help?
Everything I can muster the strength to do. I want to organize my community, petition the legislature, pave the way for more wind and solar construction in my community. I want to get the university involved, and I want to integrate energy development with community development as well. Anything I can do, just give me some direction.

Hi Matt, yes, our web site www.zazzle.com/samfleet is up and running, yes, it took about a month to get all clear, but now we are good to go, we put new designs and items up all the time, check it out, we have some really good ones! Thanks for your comments, also, know that quantity purchases get discounts and a portion of all proceeds go directly to Pickens Plan, Thanks again! Have a WIndy Day! Sam

Hi Matt
I just posted on my blog a list of suggested action items--I am copying them here:

The Pickens Plan will succeed with the support and leadership of people like YOU! Here are some simple and basic things you can do to help:

1) Recruit people to sign the Pickens Plan pledge, contact elected officials and join the Pickens Plan Community.
-make copies of the Pledge and carry them around with you. Ask everyone you come across to sign the Pledge--you’ll be surprised at the positive response you receive!
-encourage your friends and family to visit the Pickens Plan website and contact their members of Congress—it’s as easy as clicking on the red Contact Congress button!

2) Ask your friends and family to ask their friends to mobilize friends/family/neighbors to contact their elected officials.
-provide copies of the Pledge to your friends and family
-take the initiative and FAX in the signed pledges from your network.

3) Visit the local University/College/Community College and encourage the students to sign the Pledge, visit the website & GET INVOLVED. Offer an explanation about our foreign oil dependency and why they should care. This campaign is a great way to introduce our children to community involvement!
-if you have children attending school encourage them to organize a group and collect signatures/visit the website
-find a teacher/professor who is willing to talk about the Pickens Plan and why it’s important for the students to get involved
-encourage your kids/nieces/nephews/grandkids to talk to their friends about the Pickens Plan
-encourage discussions about our dependency on foreign oil.

4) Identify local groups and organizations that can help you spread the word. Ask them to send an email to their members about the Pickens Plan.

5) Identify and report to me any upcoming energy events or other interesting activities in your area.

6) Attend local events in your area and bring copies of the Pledge for signatures. Encourage everyone that signs to visit the Pickens Plan website and contact their member of Congress.

7) Look for and forward to me any news articles in your area about the Pickens Plan or new energy.

I hope this gives you some idea(s) on what you can do to help Please don’t hesitate to contact me for any support!
