Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
Very interested in new technology, how it works and how it can be applied to help people! I view our current energy crisis as a travesty because it was forseeable, preventable, helps unfriendly countries and serves the needs of a select few greedy Americans who put thier interests above those of our country!
What excites you about this campaign?
It makes sense! Wind is a no-brainer and should have already happened! Natural Gas I'm not so sure about putting too many eggs in this basket because I foresee huge infrastructure challenges for something that may only serve relatively short term gain. With advances in battery and compressed air storage I see these technologies with the right infrastructure as being much more affordable and practical for everyday Americans for use in personal transportation longterm. However, to compensate for the increased dcemand on our electrical grid and for the fact that it is domestic, it makes senses to me to create more natural gass powerplants to generate electricity. I think it may also make sense to utilize solar energy with compressed air storage perhaps at the footprint or base of these wind farms. I also believe that an ongoing Manhattan style project (It affects too many people to leave it strictly to free enterprise) should be underway for the purpose of creating the most advanced and inexpensive battery technologies and then licensed to industry on an ongoing basis. This technology is absolutely critical!! I am not a fan however, of alternative fuels in general because of thier costs, subsidies, and emmissions. My hat is off to you T. Boone for at least taking innitiative and having a "better" plan than the one we have now!!
What do you want to do to help?

Thanks for offering to help! We only have 18 days until Congress is sworn in. We must improve our numbers fast. Can you please print off a petition and get a few supporters? We all know 8 people who know how important it is for us to get off foreign oil and onto American solutions. Ask your friends to join us and have them do the same.

Here is the petition:

An additional note.

It is thought that CEO's and other high execitives should have stock options in companies they lead, so they have a "vested interest in the company" thus would act more responsibly in their duties. LOL, any worker for any company has a vested interest in the company and should act in a manner that seeks to improve the company. If a worker does not take this attitude, they need to find another job with a company they can give their devotion of concern for the companies well being to. If the person can not find any company that they can do this for, they should either open their own comapny or look into themselves to find out why they can not give this devotion to the comapny that provides them with their livelyhood and thus cherrish it and do every thing to preserve it and make it better. Because of this when the company does well and they get a $600.00 bonus and the CEO gets a $6,000,000.00 bonues they have a right to be extremely pissed off. They gave just as much effort as they CEO did in the area they are responsible for in the companies business. All positions are equally as important as with out any of them the company would not be what it is. If one can be done away with and the company be the same, then do away with the useless position and pass the savings along to all the rest.

Michael:

I appreciate your insights as well and enjoy the conversation.

I am not a union advocate, though I can see what enables them to form and thus why they exist. I do not believe that you can stop oppression when you create oppression in attempting to stop oppression. I guess its one of those subjective things, where its preceived to be ok to cause one kind of oppression against a class of people that your not in to end an oppression upon the class of people you are in. I would have to disagree, as you can not end oppression with an act that creates oppression. In the most part unions come about because a situation of greed is present.

Where the owner or leader of a company takes with out sharring equally amongst those from which enable that person to take as they do. Examples of this is when CEO's and other high executives take huge salaries and bonuses that are out of proportion with the salary and bonuses given to the average worker in the company which enable to company to make the products or conduct the services which the company makes money from thus enabling the CEO to have the profit they utilitze to pay their salary and bonuses. leadership can warrant higher saleries, I would agree, but the extent of difference in many cases is beyond reason and bonuses should not be given to a few at the expense of the many, they should be evenly distributed amongst all in a company if they are distributed at all.

There is no such thing a fuzzy logic. its either logical or not. To include the notion that well something is mostly logical but somewhat illogical is logical is illogical and distorts logic into something that it should never be distorted into. Where illogic is preceived as logic lies become truth and truth is distorted beyond recognizition. Would that be an advancement or a regression? I believe, it would be a regression.

Another small point, better protections does not mean more protections, sometimes less is better, sometimes more is better sometimes just the type of protection being different is better. Every one needs some degree of protection in a free socieity as basic rights, that is the whole concept behind the bill of rights and why I would defend those basic rights to the death. I am not saying I have all the answers, I am saying that willing to discuss things and willing to defend my position, but that position can be swayed to some extent by other positions to have a better compromised position between the two positions either leaning towards on or the other or split in the middle. But I will not allow an errosion of basic rights such to lessen them in a way as to allow oppression of individuals when such an oppression is unjust and can lead to furtherance of oppression that eventually takes away all rights individuals. This means I have to make concessions from time to time and it also means that every one else must do the same from time to time in order to preserve basic freedoms for all that are just and fair to all.

No I was serious. Your daughter is a good example of holding students more accountable as well as the teachers and getting the parents involved. You and your teachers work in conjunction to enspire your daughter. This gives her confidence and selft esteme. It should be noted that she probably has a deep repsect for others as well as for herself. These are key issues but unfortunately they are not in pratice in all parent-teacher-student relationships.

One size does not fit all, and though I agree with unions to some extent I also disagree with them to some extent. It is not right for them to protect under performers, and it is not right for them to hold back over performers. But there are some instances of where zealous people wish to classify all in one group instead of recoginizing individual performances and when that is on the negative side a union can be good.

Seriously, I would applaud your daughter, I would applaud your actions with your daughter in that you have a concerted interest in her upbringing and education. Unfurtunately there are cases where this does not hold true in the family structure. That is why I condone parents that are more involved and standards where a single bread winner can support a household.

To touch on another point. I do not feel that spliting households is a good thing when children are involved. Unless there is no possibility that having the household staying whole can provide any benefit, security and benefit. People need to be more responsible to one another and the dog eat dog mentality needs to be abandoned. This also goes to predjudical actions of people.

This nation needs to have a return to family values and fair treatment through a common respect for fellow man. Not every one is lacking in this area but there are instances where they are lacking. We also need to instill truth and accountablity back into main stream society and not be more willing to accept a person who lies to smooth things over so they are more palateable.

Some times the truth hurts, but willingness to accept lies as valid hurts even more in the long run. Believing in lies opens the door to deception very widely and makes it very hard to distinguish between correct and incorrect actions. This can lead to misplaced trust in ones that should not have that a trust instilled unto them because the trust stemed from lies and not truths.

I believe this is a major issue with why Washington is the way that it is. We place our trust in people who deceive us in the election process then have no way to hold them accountable except to vote them out but we do not do that as we fall for the same lies and deceptions the next election. Mud slinging is the rule of the day in politics not open discussion of the issues and what a candidates plans are to achieve the issues in the platform they run on.

This goes back to accountability, where we all have to be accountable for our actions, just like a student is accountable and the teacher and the parents in order to have a healthy and beneficial outcome. Unions are enabled to form because these accountabilities have broken down. They are a capitalization upon a distressed society and in my opinon in many cases further division in that society.

Build the wall along the southern boarder of Mexico, anex mexico, canada and cuba. Give the teachers better protections in the class room, and hold students accountable as well as teachers. Get the parents more nvolved. Bring back the standard of living that 1 person is able to be the bread winner in the family and support the family with a good standard.

End the big seperation between top execs and the average working hand and i could go for getting rid of labor unions but they are needed when that is not done. Also teacher unions are good for teachers when they have to deal with class room threats and inability to maintain control (does happen in areas).

The monopoly in the car industry needs to be broken, three is not enough as it appears they hold to the same ideas primarily. I agree with many points you make. I may just take them a little further than you do, but I try to look at both sides of the issue to find the best solution.

There are so many issues that have gotten to the point were they are just way beyond where they sould be and need to be brought back into the scope of realisim and fairness. But I can only hope as I am not in a position where my voice and opinions are heard in an influencial way.

WELCOME and thank you for joining Pickens Plan. I am a volunteer greeter - here to help guide you with some ways that you can help.

EMAIL A LETTER TO YOUR REPRESENTATIVES
The creators of this site have given us the ability, with little effort, to send a letter to our Representatives in Washington and Governor, too. Please go to "THE PLEDGE" (at the very top of this page on the blue header). On the top of the pledge page there are three rectangular buttons- two blue, and ONE RED BUTTON, that reads "CONTACT CONGRESS". Fill in the short, standard form. Done!

DOWNLOAD AND PRINT THE PLEDGE
Carry some copies with you and get as many as you can signed and faxed back to Boone. This is how we build our numbers fast! Be a part of the "100 CLUB" by faxing in 100 signed pledges. Let me know when you are done and I will add you to that growing list!

BRING 5 FOLKS TO JOIN
The more members we have the bigger our voice to Congress! With enough members, they will finally have to listen to us, instead of the lobbyists and special interests, who will certainly try to derail this historic effort.

THERE IS NO TIME TO DELAY
…to wait and see…or to see if someone else will step up to the plate. It is time for US to roll up our sleeves and go to work. Right now momentum is working in our favor, but if gas prices retreat, the public will forget the pain, and our moment may be lost. Now is our chance to be a part of the solution!

FOR MORE INFORMATION
Check out an informative video "Topeka, Kansas Town Hall Meeting": http://www.pickensplan.com/news/2008/08/04/video-of-the-topeka-town-hall

PERSONAL ACTION OPTIONS
We need to do more than “preach to the choir”. Sharing ideas with each other is encouraging but that will not 1) increase our membership nor 2) influence public policy. If you know someone in the press or someone who blogs - get them to cover this. Ask those in the public eye to support this plan.

A GROUP FOR EVERYONE
Check out the many groups for Solar, CNG, your area, etc. Connect, learn and share. We grow stronger with your input.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST
We can always use new, fresh Welcome Wagon “drivers”! If you have some free time during the day, let me know - there are directions on the blog on my page.

PLEASE feel free to FRIEND ME so we can keep in touch and share ideas!

Thanks again for joining this historical effort. WE CAN DO THIS!
BEST
Kim
