Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
my only experience is what ive read about it and what ive seen on it across the internet
What excites you about this campaign?
as a person on disability rising cost has all its links back to transportation cost and i feel like America needs to change. with initial cost for dams for hydro electric, wind mills, solar panels , and geo thermal. most of energy cost would be minimal. at best and fossil fuel could be the reserve instead of the norm.ive seen on you tube where they are making power stations out in the desert for foreign peoples why cant we do something like that in death valley? lower fuel prices mean more money back in Americans pockets and im all for that

Hey Eddie,

No, dude, I'm not mad, nor am I upset :^) I just have strong feelings about what I do, and the way things are perceived. In fact I always appreciate the opportunity to mix it up in a rhetorical sense. What I do think is that a lot of folks are walking around with *wrong* (er, um *incorrect* ) attitudes and opinions, and I try to get them to _change_ those beliefs.

I do that by presenting my arguments forcefully. And I expect others to do the same. I don't like to suppress opposing opinions unless it's clear that they are trying to scam folks and are clearly disreputable in their practices. You are not being sleazy or scummy! :^) We're just having an honest debate. There have been others here that were trash -- they're gone now.

Bottom line -- the only thing that's going to make a difference in the long run is the pocketbooks of the folks that are effected. No "scheme" is ever going to survive the light of day, and like it or not, the goodwill of folks that claim to want to be green, usually runs out when it's time to pay the bill.

The S&T solution is green, and it's affordable but it's a long term solution. Every time I'm asked "Why can't it be cheaper?" I shrug my shoulder and say "It would be it I could make it for less." But if I can't make a profit then why would I bother? As good as my system is it's still a finite solution.

Folks think sunlight is free... It is, but the machinery to collect that free sunlight has a cost, and that means collected sunlight has a cost too!

Hi Eddie,

I don't know who you meant when you said 'blasted', but I am in business and I'll be blunt -- I hate the stench of Socialism -- lotteries are socialist (IMHO)

Again my opinion has as much to do with the government screwing things up, and picking winners from the private sector by granting licenses to 'preferred' contractors that decide to hire vo-tech workers under some program.

BTW The folks a Gulf Power and FPL are pretty smart -- you may have some issues with the way they operate but they only have one goal -- make $$$. And to do that they only have one responsibility -- keep the lights on. If you want to change the way those companies do things, you only have one way -- show them a better way than they use now. Anything else is just hot air.

If the people truly felt the way the companies provide service is unacceptable, then they should stop buying the service, or at least the amount they buy. I don't use air conditioning, do you? It wasn't really an option 50 years ago, and wasn't available 100, so unless you cool with fans, you've kind'a decided how much service is OK to buy.

Hey Eddie,

I'm not going to blast your idea in public, because it;s not necessary. Sure you got blasted -- because lotteries are a tax on people that are bad at math!

Look, as a business man I would *NEVER* allow my company name to be used in something like that -- it's foul. But that said, what you described is not like a car raffle for the local church to raise $$$. Folks buy those tickets to support the group -- and to win the Cadillac, but it's just not the same thing... Sorry this is getting hard to explain.

OK, I know... if the state were involved they would just end up screwing it up. Folks would be betting on systems of unknown or variable quality, and the overhead required to satisfy any 'official' state project would compel the participants to cut corners. A church puts their reputation on the line to guaranty the raffle is on the up-and-up, and volunteers do an awful lot of work that regular employees would expect to be paid for!

Hi Eddie,

I think of you often. I hope all is well with you and that this will be a great year for you and your family.

Algae Oil seems to be moving forward even with the low oil prices. Terrence has added a lot of good information.

I don't do all that much anymore but am just a moderator at this time. I am trying to get any new or old individuals to write. Now that the elections are over it will be a good time to start writing again.

I have been traveling a lot lately. I have a few more trips planned and that keeps me away from home and the time I need to work on the site.

I want to wish you a beleated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I can't say how things will turn out. All we can do is write and keep expressing our displeasure.

Eddie,

We do need change. If we could only get rid of the lies and greed we just might find the change we are looking for.

Eddie,

That is just fine. You're OK! It just wouldn't have been at all right had I answered you on the blog. It can get out of hand once we get off topic. Then I am more concerned about a new viewer coming to read about the latest on the Algae and we are talking about something else. They might get discouraged and never come back. I feel we need everyone to pressure the government into giving incentives to these fledgling companies developing Algae.

As far a the debate goes, I think McCain had a very slight edge. OBama is a good "talker". So this is going to be difficult for McCain. They didn't really get into any specifics on the alternative energy that I can recall. What I remember is that they just used the words - alternative energy along with the wind etc.

Take care,

Keep up the good work!

Henry
